Marketo Training – The Best Free Resources

When you are on a tight budget, free Marketo training is a godsend. The Marketo Community is a great resource; with these tips and tricks, you will find more training than you ever knew about. Also, we reveal some excellent third-party resources for free Marketo training.

Marketo Community – University

The Marketo Community is the best free resource for Marketo training. Under the University tab, you will find a variety of on-demand video courses. Most of these videos are product knowledge, but a few will teach you some aspects of best-practise digital marketing.

The videos are somewhat dry and don’t have any quizzes, but you can track your progress through them using the My Learning tab.

Marketo Community – Help Articles

In the Marketo Community, you can find a lot of text and image articles in the Help Articles section. These are basic how-to guides for all the core functionalities of the Marketo product. These articles are great for quick refreshers when you’ve forgotten how to perform a particular function.

Unfortunately, they aren’t particularly suitable for absolute beginners and definitely won’t teach you any best-practise digital marketing.

Marketo Community – Resources

The resources tab of Marketo hides a lot of great training videos and is rarely checked by Marketo users. To access it, you must perform a search and then select the Resources tab. To find a whole heap of training videos (50+), search for Summit in the community and then select the Resources tab. You can also do the same by searching for training.

Some of these videos are great and will teach you more than just product knowledge.

Private Blogs/Channels

There are some useful private blogs maintained by Marketo consultants and users. They mainly have articles and no video and usually target more advanced Marketo users. However, they are worth checking out. Here is a list of the most useful:

  • Marketing Rockstar Guides by Josh Hill – This blog features some great articles to help you take your Marketo to the next level.
  • Edward Unthank Blog by Edward Unthank – There are excellent technical articles on Marketo featured on this blog.

SlideShare – Marketo

Marketo’s Slideshare page has some good presentations related to Marketo training. Visit this page and you’ll find some useful Slidepacks. Most of these aren’t that helpful for training, but you can find tidbits if you are desperate.

User groups

User groups are a good place to get some free training. Usually, they host presentations which can be useful for training your team. Make sure you register your local user group so you don’t miss out. Go to this page to sign up.

Marketo Customer Success

Marketo sometimes runs customer success workshops which you can attend for free. You will need to check with your local Marketo team or account manager to find out if and when these are run. Ask to be notified whenever any of these sessions are held.

As you can see, there are quite a few free Marketo Training resources out there, if you know where to look. Unfortunately, most of these do not teach you how to execute best-practise digital campaigns on Marketo; they are generally just product knowledge.

Unless your team members are already expert digital marketers, you will need specialised training if you need to enable everyone to transition from traditional marketing practises to modern one-to-one marketing using Marketo.
